An image can consist of multiple layers. Layers are placed in the Layer Stack, and are blended together according to the selected Blend Modes to produce the final image. Layers can be grouped using Group Layers, and they can be partially hidden via Layer Masks.

PencilSheep knows several different Layer Types. In PencilSheep, a layer can not only be an array of pixels, but also a procedural object.

The appearance of most Layer Types can be modified using Layer Styles.
